I realised how much I can learn by slowing down and appreciating every sight, every smell, and every person we passed on the road. It brought a realness to Vietnam that I think is very important, and will try to seek out everywhere (even at home) as I continue down life’s path.
When in Vietnam (and other countries in the region), you find yourself following a well-greased tourist trail from major destination to major destination. This trip got us completely off that trail and enabled us to see what Vietnam is really like when the locals aren’t making a living off of tourists.
Many of this group have their own individual companies, including Mr. Ut at Vietnam Easy Riders. He met me at the Dalat Easy Friends Hostel in the morning and we shared a cup of tea and told me the story of how they got started. Then my guide and driver for the day, Mr. Duc joined us. We loaded my backpack on the bike so he could drop me off directly at the airport after our tour and off we went!
